2010: The Year That Was

It’s that special time of the year once again, a time to reflect at the 12 months gone by. As I look back at the beginning of 2010 or a little before that, I had set out to make this year the year where I will try and do a lot of things I had been putting on the back burner. Now, sitting at the edge of the year, it gives me immense joy to realise that I have accomplished at least some of them.

2010 has been a year of change – not just the kind that takes you by surprise, but change that has come as a result of taking some conscious decisions. As I step into 2011, I hope to take the learnings of the year with me.

  • It’s not wrong in any way to ask the universe for what you want. As said, so beautifully in these lines, it is more than ok, in fact essential, to let the universe know what your desires are and let the fulfillment of these desires be left in bigger hands than your own
  • It’s ok to not know what you want out of life sometimes – when you leave it this way, life kinda figures it out by itself beautifully :)
  • You must do what you can do, to the best of your ability to achieve something and let go of the results – when you don’t hang on to the results, they tend to come your way :)
  • What you fear, generally comes to life, so let go of ‘em fears :)
  • The more you learn, the more you explore, the happier you are :)
  • Don’t underestimate the peace in your life, don’t take it for granted – when your world rocks for a bit, all you wish for, is that peace to return
  • Opportunities have their own time and way to arrive, so all you need to do is keep hope and some patience when they don’t :)
  • People change, relationships change, and that’s ok, after all change is the only constant thing in life, right? :)

What was it about 2010 that you loved the most? What are the lessons you’re taking with yourself into the New Year? Lets discuss in the comments :)

And on that note, wish you a Merry Christmas & a Lifealiciously Delicious New Year! :)

Bryan Adams Gives Dubai A Night To Remember

This Bryan Adams concert is one that will be in my heart for many years to come. The experience is one that I will never forget.

BryanAdams

When I heard he was coming to town, I knew that I wanted to go, and the way the universe responded to this want was amazing. I’m not so sure if I would have gone for the show had I not won tickets courtesy Cool 94.7FM, but, after having experienced it, I can say that it would have been a mistake to not have shelled out a couple a hundred Dirhams for an infinitely superb night.

The reason I write this post today is for all those Adams fans out there - who love him, know his songs, but have never attended a concert - to tell you his show is worth every penny you put into it and it’s an opportunity you must capitalize on when he visits your town, your country next.

He’s so awesome live, sounds no different from his recorded albums, in fact only so so much better. The concert was a fab mix of his popular upbeat numbers synchronized with the mushy, slow ones.

And this song I’d say was one of the highlights of the evening. Mixed with oud beats, the Bryan Adams vocals, with the hubby, in that magical setting, indeed I was in heaven.

Bye Bye 2009, Bring on 2010

It’s never happened to me before that I have felt the need to reflect on a year gone by, guess it’s the blogging fever that has taken on me :)

For the first time I feel like I have to document what 2009 has taught me so I take the lessons along with me and this post will be my reminder for years to come :)
  • Acceptance makes life easier and so much more beautiful to live in
  • There is always an opportunity to improve, learn, make amends when life wakes you up to something
  • There’s a divine hand that will always take care of you
  • Winter holidays are so heavenly
  • It’s not loneliness, it’s solitude
  • Friendships developed during your childhood are the strongest and you just need to re-live them every once in a while
  • A good boss makes all the difference in your work life
  • Exceptions favour the brave and talented
  • Dubai Eye 103.8 FM is an awesome morning drive-time companion
  • Singing aloud to your favorite songs makes you reach your destination in no time
  • When it comes to those you love, don’t waste precious moments arguing, fighting. It’s not worth it and won’t matter when you wake up the next day. It’s just lost time
  • And this one tops it all - writing has the immense power to calm troubled emotions
As we embark on a New Year ahead, I hope that 2010 will bring joy where there's sadness, jobs where there is unemployment, necessities where survival is in question and hope to those who've given up.
