Enlightening Thought

A thought’s been seeping its way through my mind very often lately – that sometimes we really aren’t so right to perceive someone’s action, their choices, as incorrect.

Because sometimes there is no right or wrong. Sometimes it's just a matter of perspective. Sometimes it’s just about seeing the bigger picture to be able to comprehend. Sometimes it’s just about seeing it the way they see it, to understand.

Sometimes just thinking like that brings you peace. And sometimes that’s all you really want.

The Heart & Its Ways

I am and have always been puzzled with the way my heart functions. At first, its kinda apprehensive and then you don’t even know where these fears disappear, when the fun begins, how memories are being created, timeless bonds cherished and now it’s time to go.

Before You Wander, Ponder

When the heart feels heavy and the tears start pouring, I ask myself – really, do you need to shed these? What’s so bad? What’s so wrong? And, as if there is some kind of a brake mechanism in your body, they stop, to a screeching halt.

We give our heart and mind too much liberty sometimes, to let them just take us where they want to – without a discussion, without any questions, without any reflection.

While it may be perfectly harmless sometimes, it can cost us a lot at other times.

Keep Imperfections Close But Perfections Closer

I can’t remember growing up thinking perfection does not exist in this world. Perfection in people. Perfection in life. Of course it did. My best friend had perfect parents coz they let her be out till the wee hours of the morning. The guy I had a crush on was perfect boyfriend material coz he was so charming, girls swore by his looks and personality. My friends who had the opportunity to study abroad had and were preparing to have a perfect life. Alas, how wrong was I!

The realisation that nothing is perfect in this world has not dawned on me just yet but what has is that we all have so many perfections and imperfections within us. One can be a bloody good looking individual with a great career but perhaps be grossly impatient and have a bad temper.  We all have so much good in us but it doesn’t come alone, it’s always accompanied with a little bad too.

The key to living our lives in harmony with those we ‘love’, those who matter is to always keep their perfections/ the things they do so well/ things we love about them/ things that make us so proud of them, very close to us, so in times when their imperfections are screaming out aloud, their perfections will help us stay calm and not hurt each other in the process.

For it is such a sad irony of life that it is just these very people who mean the world to us that we hurt the most or who hurt us the most. And what’s even worse is the uncertainty of life –here today, gone tomorrow – so why waste precious moments, precious bonds brooding over the imperfections or actions caused as a result of those, when there’s so much more to rejoice and celebrate.

Faith

(Via)

My life has always been about trusting Him and if things didn’t work out, I’d say to myself ‘He knows best’. There’s so much power in these three words, enough to take us through many of life’s little hiccups smoothly, sanely, easily.

Somewhere along the years though, I forgot all about it.

And He has His ways to always get you back on track and remind you that He is indeed the Master of your being, your soul.

And I give in and say, “Yes Sir, I am listening now, you’ve got my attention. And oh yes, I have submitted the reigns of my life back in your hands.”

He seems like a Happy Man.

I feel so happy too.

“As your faith is strengthened, you will find that there is no longer the need to have a sense of control, that things will flow as they will, and that you will flow with them, to your great delight and benefit.” - Emmanuel Teney

An Over-a-Chai Thought

Have you written something eons ago and gone back to it much later and said - Holy Cow! I am where I wanted to be.. ;D

Sipping my cuppa tea and browsing through some old posts, I went back to this one that I wrote in April 2009. Seems like I have created just the atmosphere needed to fulfill those items on my wish list. And now I need to start implementing each one of those, day by day, week by week and the quote there still stands so true….

"Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things only hoped for." Epicurus

What is it that you have been wanting to do but putting on the back burner? Do you still want to do it? Have you come close to accomplishing it? Take a chai moment to ponder…

Soaking Up The Rains

I’m not sure how many in the country are enjoying the unexpected heavy downpour – there have been a few hassles must say but I am soooooooo loving the rains in Dubai.

It must have got something to do with taking things a little easy now, the slowing down to smell the roses kinda lifestyle I’ve just stepped into :)

Walked up in the rains this morning - no rush, no deadlines, no frantic calls, just the rain drops against my face, a cloud laden sky, cars whooshing past the puddles, my thoughts and me.

Intelligent Thought

I’m all about a lot of thoughts :) Found one this morning in Gulf News submitted by one of the readers and loved it.

If you cry at trouble, it grows double and
If you laugh at trouble, it disappears just like a bubble   :D :D

(From  Heeral Shivnani’s SMS published in the paper)

Bubble

This one is for keeps as we step into 2010.

A Toast to Second Innings

A lot of ideas coming to mind as I embark on year 2 of Lifealicious, not sure how much of it I’ll be able to accomplish. For now though, this seemed apt as we start this new journey :)

The once-in-a-blue moon thought

Has it ever happened to you that you're in the real but time and again want to be lost with a thought and find great comfort there?

I Love Saturday Mornings

It’s got to do with having so much time to myself, for myself, no rush, no running around, sipping my tea with no looking at the clock, putting things in order and sometimes finding some lovely fresh flowers around, a camera and to be able to get around to doing what I am so inspired to by the blogosphere  - capturing beauty, simplicity, life, colour, joy.

Wish you a gorgeous Saturday!

Keepsake

Keepsake

I loved this line on a friend's status. It's something I want to have with me all the time, specially when things don't work out, during moments when you look back and wonder why and you read this and look at your life in the present and say why not :)

Random chatter

It's not about being together 24/7, it's about being connected all the time,
It's not about giving each other space, it's about not getting enough of you,
It's not about not having a life, it's just that there is no life in anything I do without you :)

To Bhai, For Rakshabandhan

Brothers and sisters are as close as hands and feet. ~Vietnamese Proverb

I think I write best when I am a bit emotional. Here I am sitting at my desk, just a day before Rakhi and the thought of not being able to be with my brother tomorrow, who is a mere four hours away in the neighboring country, hurts a lot.
So to replace the negative emotion with a positive one, I thought it was best to pen down my thoughts of what it means to have a brother in your life. Mine is the only one between us two sisters and the only boy of my parents and I tell you, we all can never get enough of him and that’s why when he’s home – mom’s after him to eat something, dad wants to know what’s happening to the car, I’m trying to get a scoop of what’s happening in his life, he’s trying to catch some action on TV and all this as his phone constantly rings and not to forget beeps of new messages :)
So back to question: What does it mean to have a brother in your life?
There’s a lot of things running in my mind right now, it’s a question I have asked myself for the first time. I list the answers as they come to me
To me having a brother means:
  • being lucky – two’s better than one and wait we’re three and it’s awesome
  • safety – against all those irritating boys at school
  • security – brother’s always there, just a phone call away
  • friend – to be able to discuss and share everything you cannot with mom and dad
  • comparison – as Jai’s teachers would call and tell me: Komal, how come Jai is not like you – he is soooo naughty? ;)
  • supporter – when it’s the right thing, brother supports you all the way
  • strength – to fight for what is right or give you that reassurance you sometimes so need
  • consultant – what looks good when you’re going out for that oh-so-important-date
  • male model - to gain an insight into how young men operate very early on in your life :)
  • fame – when he’s one of the smartest boys in the city and girls want to befriend you :)
  • anchor - you’re parents will not be alone long after you’re married and gone (hopefully :D, times have changed)
  • legacy - your family name goes on
  • awesome company – to your hubby when he comes to stay at your parents
  • fights - this is mine, no mine, it's my time for the comp - when will you ever get up :)
  • discover - the world of action flicks, wrestling, video games
I’m sure there’s a lot to say but I would just like to add one thing more, brothers are just so special and I am indeed very lucky to have one. Wish you a very Happy Rakshabandhan Jai. I hope to be with you next year.

Genuineness in a Fake World

Oh dear God, in this world full of plasticity
Why have you sent some souls that are so simple
Those that show the world exactly what they feel
Those that do not discriminate
Those whose behaviour is not based on how powerful one is
Or how much they earn or important a network they keep
They feel out of place, they just don't fit in
What do you suggest they do? How should they sail through?
God replies:
Oh my little one: why do you analyse so deeply?
I haven't made anything perfect in this world and that includes the human race too
The beautiful roses have thorns while the divine lotus flower grows in dirt
All I would love for you to do is keep your sanity, your simplicity and take each step forward
Everything around you is there for a reason
Have faith and be at peace
Leave these things in the hands of the maker
And then my love as you sit back and see, you will realise how lucky you are to be a part of my creation :)

Dear Hubby

It's a lovely sunny morning, though not as amazing as you my darling
It's been days I wanted to write something for you, and at this very moment words are flowing in my head out of the blue
When we first met, I didn't know it was going to be the start of something so fab, I can bet
Yet in the days before we just tied the knot, I knew, for things that meant the world to me, you would never say can not
You haven't proved me wrong, for as years pass we're only getting strong
Thanks for standing up for me and the things that I believe in Hubby
For you are loved more than you will ever ever know by Wifey :)
